Two Neglected Words

Do you know the two most neglected words in the dictionary? Most people have no idea and could care less. Once a year our nation observes a special day of thanks, but even then the two words are seldom used. Lest you have forgotten, the special day is Thanksgiving and the two neglected words are THANK YOU. Someone asked a man, "Is thank you written as one word or two words?" He replied, "I don't know I never use the words."

Even Jesus, who reminded us to always be thankful, had to deal with thankless people who had forgotten how to say thank you. He healed ten lepers and only one returned to thank him. He asked, "Where are the other nine, did only one return to give glory to God?" I would have asked, "Where in the cotton-pickin' world are the other thankless ones?"

An atheist made fun of a father who always gave thanks before meals. The father said, "You remind me of my hogs when I feed them, they dive right in and never once look up." We, too, should be cautious lest we substitute GIMME for THANK you. How? By being thankful for God's love and forgiveness and never failing to pass on a thank you to friends, enemies, or whoever.

One fact is certain. When we share a thank you, we will be blessed and so will those we thank.
