Justin B. French is originally from
Portsmouth, NH. an has been playing for 40 years on and off. He retired from the Navy in
72 and stayed in Norfok.
Country music is his main interest. He started playing the steel in the early 60's, even
had a small band that played in the Navy Base Clubs in Pensacola, FL.
He quit the steel in 67 but started again in March 2001 after 33 years. He now
performs at many of the senior facilities in Hampton Roads. In addition to playing a great
pedal steel, he also does a great job singing.. Many people have never seen a steel guitar
up close. They listen with great joy at the beautiful sounds!
Justin played a
Fender 400 untill recently when he bought a new Carter D10 tuned to E9th/C6th. He is
pleased with the remarkable sound the Carter has with the 8 pedals/5 knees. He is
slowly learning to play again and but not yet satisfied that he is at the Pro level of
playing.
