
Larry Sutphin (Pronounced Sut'fin)
Larry
Sutphin has been performing in the Hampton Roads since 1966.
He Started playing Pedal Steel in 1975 after leaving a successful gospel singing group
that toured the east coast for 9 years.
Larry plays a Mullen D-10, with 8 and 4 through a Peavey 1000 amp.
His effects are:

Hilton volume pedal
Fender Passport PA System
Larry's 1st steel was a 1973 Sho-Bud single
neck and has owned the following Pedal Steels:
One D10 Sho-Bud ProII ( Wooden Neck)
One D10 Sho-Bud ProIII ( Aluminum Neck)
One D10 MSA ( Good action but muddy )
One 1973 D10 Emmons ( Great guitar )
One 1988 D10 Emmons D10 push pull (
Pretty...but would not stay in tune),
One EMCI D-10 ( Nice in the studio, but a
little too thin and bright playing live )
One JCH D10 ( Great tone and good action.)
Current guitar: 98 Mullen D-10 , 8 and 4.
By Far the best playing and sounding guitar of any that I have owned.
Larry is originally from the Blue Ridge
Mountains of Virginia and has lived in the Hampton Roads area for the past 40 years.
