Welcome Micky Byrne to PSG of Hampton Roads, Va..
He lives in Essex, England...and that's close enough for us
Micky
lives in England, in the County of Essex near London.
He started playing guitar when he was 15 years old, and took up PedalSteel guitar in 1970.
Micky and his wife Julie have worked all mainland Europe and also in the Midwest states in
1984.
In Europe, their band
backed the Nashville artists of their day on their Europeon tours in U.K. & Germany.
These included Bobby Bare, Stonewall Jackson, and Barbara Fairchild.
Micky uses a Carter universal, and a Sho-Bud universal which
is being ressurected. The Carter has a pretty standard universal copedant, but the Sho-Bud
had a strange but effective tuning using just four pedals but seven knee levers. Just more
"knee" work!!!
He uses a Peavey Nashville 400 and and Evans Fet LV 500 amp. Other toys
include Telecaster Blue flower B-Bender, Ovation custom Balladier, and a Giannini hand
made classical. Also a Match-Bro, and Boss tone, Boss RV-3, and a Korg G4 toneworks Leslie
simulator.
Micky is not sure, but he may be the only steel guitarist on a second heart, having had a
transplant in 1999. Micky also
uses a Marrs "cat can" resonator guitar.
